Kid got a little out of control tonight. There was an interrogation, then a mention of zombies. I tried to calm him down with a little light reading. He wasn't having Dr. Suess.
Count Zero, by William Gibson
Bloodshot, by Cherie Priest
And yes, those are Thomas the Tank Engine PJs.
I only got to read comic books and the Hardy Boys when I was young! Kid is so lucky!!
ReplyDeleteHe really likes cyberpunk. Is just getting into urban fantasy.
ReplyDeleteWould have tried Calvino's Cosmicomics on him myself.
ReplyDeleteBest mom ever.
ReplyDelete@Nick He does enjoy certain passages from If on a Winter's Night a Traveler. *nods*
ReplyDelete@Elena He looked at the cover of Bloodshot and said "This looks like a scary book", then leaned close and quietly said "There are probably bears in it". Because, you know, they're the scariest. :D
My son has Thomas the Tank Engine PJs!!! We must be awesome mums. ;D
ReplyDeleteExcellent book choices, esp. the Gibson. You are indeed, as Jaime points out, an "awesome mum."
ReplyDeleteAnd yes. Bears are the scariest. Especially polar bears. Most especially the rampaging ones.
@Jaime - If that's not proof, I don't know what is. =D
ReplyDelete@Ace - *nods*
Oh well, yes of course only William Gibson would do.
ReplyDelete@Hillary -

LOL, awesome. And he is so cute :)
ReplyDelete(Girl Friday here :)
He gets really serious about his reading, Girl Friday. He'll narrow his eyes, and trail his finger along a line, then look up and say "interesting". I don't have the heart to tell him that sometimes he's holding the book upside down.
