In keeping with the holiday spirit, I'm running around like a six-legged thoroughbred with a bur under her saddle and something to prove. I'm not actually sure which holiday that image relates to, but it seems appropriate this year.
What I wouldn't give for an hour to kick back and lose myself in a good book. Alas... Since I'm too busy, I'm giving you the opportunity to win such a reprieve. The book, that is. I haven't yet mastered the ability to bestow time on others. Welcome, dear readers, to the Mistletoe Madness Blog Hop!
I'm giving away an early digital copy of my novella, Don't Bite the Messenger, coming to the rest of the world 1.16.12.

Don't Bite the Messenger
Anchorage, Alaska
The vampire population may have created an economic boom in Alaska, but their altered energy field fries most technology. They rely on hard-living—and short-lived—couriers to get business done…couriers like Sydney Kildare.
Sydney has survived to the ripe old age of twenty-six by being careful. She’s careful when navigating her tempestuous clients, outrunning hijackers and avoiding anyone who might distract her from her plan of retiring young to a tropical, vampire-free island.
Her attitude—and immunity to vampires’ allure—have made her the target of a faction of vampires trying to reclaim their territory. Her only ally is Malcolm Kelly, a secretive charmer with the uncanny habit of showing up whenever she’s in trouble. Caught in the middle of a vampire turf war, Sydney has to count on Malcolm to help her survive, or the only place she’ll retire is her grave…

For me, climbing a mountain before dawn on the 21st December (the day after my Twins wedding) and sitting there and watch the day born. Truly magical and an experience I'd recommend for everyone.
ReplyDeleteGoing out into the woods that were on our farm and cutting down our Christmas tree. Loved doing that when I was growing up.

The book sounds awesome!! My favorite wintery memory is my daughters first snow. She thought it was so awesome and ran around like crazy in it, and ran all the way down the street. Then it started snowing and she freaked out. She liked playing in it but she did not like it falling on her face!! i had to carry her all the way back down the street and into the house!! LOL

Thanks for participating in the hop. A favorite memory would probably be from childhood upon waking up and realizing we'd had the first significant snowfall of the year. It'a was always so beautiful and we'd go out sledding.

I remember when I was little, we had our one and only white Christmas. It was a struggle to get out of the door there was so much snow! Such a lovely memory :)

My favorite winter memory is taking my boys sledding for the first time. They didn't get fussy or upset when they got a face full of snow. No, they got up and ran back up the hill, ready to go again, and again, and again and again....lol. I was so worn out!
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of this book and would LOVE to read it! Thank you so much for participating in the hop! I'm always so thrilled to find new to me authors!

My favorite winter memory is the time I built a mini igloo in my front yard with my Mom when I was eight. We haven't done anything quite that cool with the snow again. Please don't enter me to win as I've already recieved your novella from NetGalley. I just wanted to comment! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite winter memory would probably be the first winter we had our Saint Bernard when I was about 12. He loved the snow. We had the most fun taking him out for runs in the snow, actually he pretty much drug us, he was really strong. Those were fun times.

Loving these comments! I adore winter. I suppose I should since I live in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteAnna, I hope you enjoy it!
One of my favorite memories is my mom coming in and waking me up in the middle of the night to see the first snow fall, we stayed up just watching. The next day, she got my siblings and me bundled up and we went outside to play. I remember being really excited because we got to skip school too. :) It was a wonderful day. Thank you for the fun giveaway! Happy holidays!
