SO WAT'CHA, WAT'CHA, WAT'CHA WANT?

Twenty-twelve is right around the corner and, as ever when we reach the cusp of a new year, that means it's time to talk about successes and failures, resolutions and goals. I say we don't dwell so much on the failures, or the resolutions - what are those, after all, but snippets of dreams committed to paper?

My five goals, in no particular order, for twenty-twelve:*

  • Master the art of eating hot foods without losing control of my mucous membranes
  • Finally watch all of Jacob's Ladder without covering my eyes during the seizure-gimp scenes
  • Write that 120,000-word buddy comedy novel mash-up of Twilight and Throw Momma from the Train
  • Grow another inch
  • Finish two novels
What are your goals, dear readers? What one or three or five things do you hope to accomplish in twenty-twelve? (Yes, I do like seeing it written out, why do you ask?)

  1. Ooooh! *rubs hands together*

    1. Land an agent
    2. Write two more novels
    3. Land/kidnap Prince Charming
    4. Create a room where I can write/paint/play computer games without interruptions. So - a bunker.
    5. Read 30 novels. I'd say 50, but I'm starting my masters, so that might be difficult. But I'll try. :D

I'll even add your mash-up to the TBR pile. XD

  2. I wanna see that mash-up. I think you have a best-selling idea, there. My goals?

    1. Lose 20 lb without dieting.
    2. Develop the magic formula for promoting books without irritating people.
    3. Write at least one blog post a week about something other than the writing process/sales (even if it's just my usual blather).
    4. Write two novels.

Can I stop at 4, or are we only dealing in odd numbers, here?

    Happy New Year!

  7. That is an excellent goal, Christy. You'll get there!

Not sure what direction it'll go in, Jen, but that sounds like a decent start. :)

  8. 1) Land an agent (legally this time. Apparently you aren't allowed to "snag". And don't get me started about the whole catch-and-release rules!)

    2) Experience Nirvana. Or listen to Nirvana. Either works.

    3) Finish a novel. Errr, maybe start a novel.

    4) Visit, in no particular order: Maine, Io, China, Orlando, DS9, Nashville (again), B5, my bed.

    5) Solve Cold Fusion. Barring that, solve Warm Fusion. Or just eat at a fusion restaurant.

    6) Learn to stop at 5.

  9. Cobra, snagging? You'll get your license revoked for that! Let me know when you close in on goal three. I will be very eeenterested.

    2. Two novels
    3. Lose weight
    4. Not get sick
    5. Use science to make my own Dean Winchester.

    Not necessarily in that order.

  11. Fingers especially crossed for #4, K.L. That will make all the others easier.

Also, you try to recreate Dean with science...I will attempt with magic. What say we get together and compare notes around August?
